It seems hard to believe that half-term is nearly at an end and we are starting the run up to Christmas with the shops already stocked with Christmas items.
It has been a busy few weeks, visiting groups to present Chief Scout Service Awards and to invest new leaders, something that is set to continue into the next half of the term.
Major District events have been the Beaver Sports Day on 24 September, a blustery somewhat cold day but despite the weather a good time was had by all, and at least running around and competing kept the Beavers warm and well occupied. The overall competition was won by 14th Beavers so well done to them!
On October 9th we held the annual Scout 1st Aid Competition and incident hike. This year’s event was held out at Brimham Rocks, so thanks to the National Trust for allowing us to hold the event there. Weather-wise it was a crisp, Autumn day to begin with, but there were a couple of heavy showers towards the end of the event that dampened spirits a little. Thanks to all the supporters and those who took part, the competition again being won by 14th Harrogate!
November sees the Stray Bonfire taking place on November 5, with several groups taking part and hoping to fundraise from it as well as have a good time. The following weekend is the annual Service of Remembrance, with separate services being held in Harrogate, Knaresborough and Pateley Bridge. We hope for a good turnout from Scouts for this very important event in the calendar.
