The London Monopoly Run is a life-size version of Monopoly. Each team takes the place of a “player” in the board game for the day. The aim is to travel around London either on foot or using the London Underground and bus networks.

Teams will be provided with a photo taken at the location of the original Monopoly board places. They must travel to a location and find where the photo was taken then “check-in” using a smartphone.

If successful, the team will be given the opportunity to purchase the property or may have to pay rent if another team owns it. The progress of the team through the phone app and includes bank balance, property ownership and locations visited. Teams will earn money if another team visits a property they own.

All Scout teams will have a leader with them during the Monopoly Run. Explorer teams can take part without supervision, but usually only those who have previously taken part in the event will be unsupervised.

Teams will be formed at the information evening to be held either last week of January or first week of February. All participants are expected to attend. On that evening the teams will be given further information about the event and will plan their strategy and route.
